Get Organized - How to Organize Your Life and Spend More Time Doing what you Love
Getting organized in today's chaotic world can be life-changing, as it removes some of the mental "noise" and provides more time to do the things you love. I'm far from perfect in this regard, but I wanted to share how I stay organized working from home and juggle life, family, a full-time job, friends, and creating low-grade nonsense on UA-cam.

    Late to the party but my tip is to use the Apple focus settings. At 18:00 on weekdays my “personal” group is enabled. This turns off my notifications for things like work email, work WhatsApp and Zoom. Using shortcuts and automation it also turns off my work SIM. At 08:00 “personal” ends and everything switches back on. The great thing about this is it synchronises across all my Apple devices so you set it up once and never have to think about it again. As a bonus tip I also disable the badges for work apps when in “personal” as I found I was tempted to keep jumping back into email because I could see unread emails.

      The one I have is by Modern Forms which is essentially a sub-brand of WAC. Here's the exact one I installed: amzn.to/4cK04MP. It's very quiet (basically, you just hear the air moving depending on speed) and connects to WiFi and my home automation system, although the automation side seems to lose the connection more often than I'd like.

    • @TheBigHeavy
      @TheBigHeavy 9 днів тому

      I'm not familiar with the Nuwave oven, but it will run a Nespresso machine (I think I have a video on that somewhere) which pulls between 700-1900W when it's brewing (about 3 minutes). You're not going to get much runtime, maybe 35 minutes or so depending on whether the oven pulls watts the whole time or cycles on and off.

    Great video, something I want to add ... be careful of coworkers who "live to the job". Even before watching this video I tried to instill a hard rule to shutdown my laptop at 5pm... but often I would be in a call with a project manager that started at 4:30pm ... many times we would still be on the phone past 5pm, its like he was oblivious the working day had ended. I got sick of this after a while and made abrupt excuses once the clock when past 5pm such as "right I've got to head out, I need to collect the kids" ... this worked fine and I recommend it if you have a teams call that is drifting past your allocated hours.

    • @TheBigHeavy
      @TheBigHeavy 9 днів тому

      I hear you on that one. There are too many people that think time at work automatically equals quality output at work and try and put that on others. I'll usually let people know I have a "hard stop" when I have to pickup the kids. You can do this in a nice way, or if they're "repeat offenders" you can even schedule another meeting at 5PM and tell them you have to run.

      I'm very happy, and as a former Race deck (well, the Costco knock off version) I agree with you on all counts. I have another video with a 5-year review that may be worth watching. The install wasn't easy, but maintenance is pretty good (I mop every 6-12 months and otherwise just sweep/vac), it still looks great, and I get a little smile everytime I walk into the shop/gym!

      With the disclaimer that “Some guy on the internet told me it was OK!!” likely won’t work with the French police, my understanding is that registering in any EU country allows you to fly in all of them since they harmonized their drone rules a few years ago. As mentioned in other comments, be sure to check out géoportail as there are very few places you can fly in France and especially Paris.

It also does the same thing as a dollar store mechanical kitchen timer. So, neat if you like using cool stuff in your office and $40 isn’t a big deal. I work from home 1xweek and at the office 4x. I have recently started studying and I noticed that if I try to study when I get home (7pm) I am just too tired and stressed out, and I'll have so many chores around the house that I just lose track and never sit down and actually study. We'll, it's been a week since I've started going to sleep early and waking up at 4:50am to get some study time before my 9-5, although waking up early is not that easy it has been sooo great! No one is awake at 5 so I get a lot of peace and quiet, and when I get home I get some house chores done and go to sleep without feeling stressed out and trying to open up books and classes. The tips you gave are so true! Having a schedule and a calendar is amazing as long as you're not too busy keeping up with it, and having a desk setup that is comfortable is a must!!!!

    Thanks for your video, I'm in the UK and would love one of these units. Dieter Rams is a creative genius and these are design classics. The story of Dieter and his work with Braun in post-war Germany is fascinating and makes sense now more than ever (his 10 principles of design below). Like Eames, they have a simple and transparent manufacture and distribution model. Don't accept any fakes folks, these are works of art that will serve and delight you for life. Is innovative Makes a product useful Is aesthetic Makes a product understandable Is unobtrusive Is honest Is long-lasting Is thorough down to the last detail Is environmentally friendly Involves as little design as possible

      I hear they are cheaper in the UK so hopefully there's some Vitsoe in your future! Despite my tongue-in-cheek description they really are beautifully designed shelving. It's the perfect expression of the old bromide that "less is more."

      This is the only pack I have with this technology, so I'm hesitant to destroy it, but I'd be willing to ask the company if they'd send me an SST cell and I'd try putting a couple rounds through it to see what happens. I'm a bit spooked by Lithium batteries after watching too many videos and having too many of these things around the house!

      Thanks! Definitely get the géoportail app. There’s a setting to show only drone airspace and it’s significantly more restricted than what the DJI or similar apps show. Also be ready for seagull attacks! I had grand plans of doing some drone video in the basque region since you can fly along the shoreline, but the seagulls swarmed about 90 seconds after I took off and then circled overhead even after I landed.

    Had a garage look at my Ford Transit Connect 2019, which had a engine replacement in 2022, FDRS was used and found a issue with some injectors and all the parameters where reset, and PCM was also reset, the van was noisy and after high pressure fuel pump reset, and EGR reset, van is very quiet and drives like new 👍

    Just a tip on Ford Lightning...tiny 12v lead acid battery gets totally whipped by the IPMA update. You will need at least 30-40 amp charger to keep the battery charged enough and power supplied to finish the update. If you cannot find a charger that large, you can hook up two 15a or 20a chargers, in series, to the charging posts

    Hugely helpful review. Thank you. Could you tell us the dimensions of units you installed? It looks like you used two of the "wide" bays and one of the "narrow" bays. Is that right? What was the overall length, depth and height of the finished shelving? Thanks in advance.

      @TheBigHeavy 2 місяці тому

      I did indeed do two wide and one “standard.” I’m on an RV trip so don’t have the exact dimensions but they should be on the Vitsoe website.

    • @TheBigHeavy
      @TheBigHeavy 2 місяці тому

      The mongoose activation or FDRS? I’ve heard of people getting a used/refurbished mongoose that says it’s already been registered, which should affect actual use. On FDRS the servers occasionally go down and if you contact the customer service they’ll apparently extend your license. I’ve had this happen a couple times and unfortunately the only recourse is to wait for Ford to fix their tech (usually in a few hours) and try again.

Called the support # today and after trying a few things on 2 separate laptops they believe the unit is "faulty". so, now in the process of a full amazon refund that will likely take weeks to compete. once complete, i can re-order and try again i guess.
